Appellate Law

Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A.’s Appellate Law Practice Group is staffed with attorneys with considerable expertise in federal and state appellate court forums, including attorneys who have participated in judicial clerkships at and with the United States Court of Appeals and the Florida District Courts of Appeal. This expertise affords our attorneys first hand knowledge of the internal workings and procedures of the federal appeals courts as well as with Florida rules of the appellate procedure.

In addition to a complete law library, the firm also has full access to computerized research through Westlaw, Law Desk and the Internet. The firm also maintains a research file of memoranda to catalog prior appellate and research projects so as to contain costs associated with litigation and appellate review. This experience and these resources afford our clients the fullest appellate expertise available.

Our attorneys have handled appeals in virtually every area of substantive law and their range of experience varies from appeals of final orders and judgments of trial courts, appeals of non-final orders, appellate motion practice, oral argument, petitions for writs of certiorari, jurisdictional briefs, and appeals of decisions of local governments and administrative boards and tribunals to lower courts, as prelude to appellate court review.

Attorneys from the Appellate Practice Group participate in all appeals handled by the firm, and advise the litigation attorneys as needed at trial in order that the appellate record be protected, and that procedural and evidentiary advantages be properly evaluated. The Appellate Practice Group also associates with outside trial counsel in either assisting with an appeal or undertaking complete preparation of the appeal, tailored to the wishes of the clients.
