James Appointed as Chair of Frederick Leadership
ORLANDO, FL – Associate Melody James with Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A., was recently appointed to serve as the Chair of Frederick Leadership, a local organization, founded by former Orlando Mayor Bill Frederick, that connects future leaders, addresses issues related to governance in the community, promotes public service opportunities and offers ongoing education to its members. Ms. James has been involved with the organization for almost three years, having most recently served as the organization's Co-Chair. She holds an MBA from Stetson University and a law degree from Stetson University College of Law.
At the firm, Ms. James divides her work among the Labor and Employment law, Sports and Entertainment law, Commercial Litigation and eDiscovery practices. She has worked on matters involving Title VII, Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, whistleblower laws and disputes over employment contracts and non-competition agreements, representing both private and public sector employers before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Florida Commission on Human Relations, and the Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division. In the sports law arena, Ms. James has handled contract disputes and family law cases involving athletes in the National Basketball Association, National Football League and Major League Baseball. Ms. James also litigates on behalf of clients in contract, tort and real estate disputes, and has represented large luxury hotels with various business, collection and contract matters.
