The start of a voluntary bar leader’s term is an exciting and daunting time. The opportunity is frequently the culmination of many years of dedication to an organization, and the new leader plans for a year of hard work, growth, improvement, and innovation for the benefit of the organization’s members and the community at large. A voluntary bar leader’s ability to achieve success depends not only on the dedication of that individual, but on the involvement and dedication of the organizations’ leadership team and members.
This past year, the leaders of the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers, Central Florida Gay & Lesbian Law Association, Federal Bar Association – Orlando Chapter, Greater Orlando Asian American Bar Association, Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida, Orange County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, and Paul C. Perkins Bar Association, who are spotlighted in this article, recognized that, in addition to reliance on others within their organizations, collaboration with each other, including members of the Orange County Bar Association, could lead to even greater progress and success.
The voluntary bar leaders united for the purpose of promoting diversity and supporting one another’s organizations. They recognized that they all offered unique perspectives based upon their personal and professional backgrounds, and that they and their organizations could grow and improve if they connected, communicated, and collaborated with each other.
