Alex Dobrev Appointed Chair of the Meritas Real Estate Law Practice Group
Lowndes is pleased to announce that Shareholder Alex Dobrev has been appointed as chair of the Real Estate Practice Group for Meritas, a global alliance of 191 leading independent law firms spanning 96 countries.
This Real Estate Practice Group allows Meritas members with experience in all aspects of real estate law to virtually connect with their peers, and to engage and build relationships, collaborate on business development, seek and share advice, and exchange resources and materials that are important to their practices.
Dobrev, who chairs the Multifamily & Condominium Group at Lowndes, also serves as the vice-chair of the Condominium & Planned Development Committee of The Florida Bar, as well as its legislative chair.
Dobrev focuses a substantial portion of his legal practice on distressed properties acquisitions, operations and dispositions. In the context of “broken” or “fractured” condominium projects in particular, he often works with lenders, bulk investors, and receivers, in order to evaluate and implement exit strategies, including possible unwinding of the condominium regime, while identifying and minimizing potential successor developer liabilities and related risks.
In addition, Dobrev counsels clients regarding Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act (ILSA) compliance matters, including full and partial exemptions from the Act and overall offering structure.
