Jennifer Dixon Comments on Ruling Regarding Rushmore and Property Appraisals

Shareholder Jennifer Dixon was quoted in an article in Orlando Sentinel discussing the implications of the recent appellate court ruling that the Orange County Property Appraiser's office improperly inflated the value of Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort. The court declared that the Rushmore method, which has been used by the Orange County Property Appraiser and other property appraisers, is illegal under Florida law.

"Rushmore is essentially dead for use by property appraisers," Dixon said.

Dixon and her colleague, Shareholder Brendan Lynch, who represents both commercial and residential property land owners in issues of property tax valuation and appeals, recently co-authored an amicus brief that was submitted in the case on behalf of the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association.
