November 17, 2020
Lowndes Shareholder Jennifer Dixon has been elected to the Executive Board of the ABA Appellate Judges Conference-Council of Appellate Lawyers (CAL). She will serve a two-year term beginning in December 2020.
Dixon has been a member of CAL since 2017, and she welcomes the opportunity to join the Executive Board and to serve its dynamic and esteemed membership of appellate advocates.
Founded in 2000, CAL’s mission is to foster a dialogue among federal and state appellate lawyers and judges to improve appellate advocacy and strengthen ties among federal, state, and local appellate bar associations. In conjunction with the Appellate Judge’s Education Institute (AJEI), CAL sponsors and develops continuing legal education programs taught by the country’s most celebrated appellate judges and practitioners. In addition, CAL develops practical seminars and publications designed for the needs of appellate lawyers, promotes recognition of the practice of appellate law as a specialty, and examines and fosters discussions and proposals for the improvement of the appellate courts.
As a member of the firm's Litigation & Trial Practice Group, Dixon leads the firm’s civil appellate practice, having appeared in over 70 state and federal appeals on behalf of appellants, appellees and amicus curiae (“friends of the court”). She regularly works with clients engaged in the businesses of real estate, hospitality, construction, themed entertainment and outdoor advertising.
