November 03, 2021

Lowndes is pleased to announce that Shareholder Jon Gibbs was recently honored with the Elizabeth Susan Khoury Guardian Ad Litem Award of Excellence from the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association (LAS) for his outstanding work as a guardian ad litem, advocating for and working on behalf of abused and neglected children.

In recognition of Gibbs’ service, Legal Aid Society staff said, “Jon has always been a champion for LAS… He truly embodies the spirit of pro bono work.”

Over his 20-plus years of volunteer service, Gibbs has contributed more than 1,000 pro bono hours, handling 30 cases that helped a total of 54 children find safe, permanent homes.

“I believe that as attorneys our obligations of advocacy do not end with our paying clientele,” said Gibbs. “We must all do our part to ensure that those in need have access to representation.”

Gibbs is a registered patent attorney and serves as co-chair of the Intellectual Property Services Group at Lowndes. He represents clients in a broad spectrum of intellectual property matters, including intellectual property protection, licensing, litigation, auditing and due diligence. He counsels clients on brand management strategies, selection and clearance of trademarks and service marks, policing and enforcement issues and securing rights in proprietary discoveries and works through patent, copyright and trade secret protection. He has litigated and defended matters related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, the internet, and related unfair competition cases. He has handled numerous matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP).
