Orlando, FL – Lowndes is pleased to announce that shareholder Laura Walda has assumed the position of president of the board of directors of the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens, which is home to an art collection created by award-winning, internationally recognized, Czech-born American sculptor Albin Polasek. Walda most recently served as president-elect of the organization. Her one-year term began January 1, 2021.
“The Polasek is a true gem of art, history and nature,” said Walda. “I am excited for the year ahead as we continue to find creative ways of enriching and inspiring the community through engaging programs and exhibitions, even during the challenging times of COVID-19.”
Walda is active in a variety of community and professional organizations, serving as president of CREW Orlando and as a member of the board of directors and the government affairs committee of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce. She is also a graduate of the chamber’s Leadership Winter Park program and a cofounder of WP Voter, which aims to get more locals under age 50 to the polls during municipal elections.
As a shareholder in Lowndes' commercial real estate practice area, Walda has served as lead or co-counsel on numerous multimillion-dollar transactions. She frequently handles contract and lease negotiation and drafting, real estate acquisitions and dispositions, negotiation and structuring of credit facilities and review of title insurance matters. She also has experience in commercial litigation focusing on title insurance matters, landlord/tenant disputes and banking litigation.
