Shareholder Tara Tedrow was quoted in a Law360 article discussing the Florida Supreme Court's ruling upholding the state's restrictive medical marijuana regulations and whether advocates will pursue other measures to change the laws. The recent court decision followed a years-long legal challenge by Tampa-based Floridgrown LLC, which contended that the vertical-integration requirement limited participation in the industry and was unconstitutional. In its ruling, the court indicated that the law's requirement for marijuana operators to handle all aspects of the cannabis business "is within the Legislature's specific authority."
"[A ballot initiative or legislative measure], of course, will depend entirely on whether enough signatures can be gathered in time, whether the ballot summary passes constitutional muster and if enough voters support the effort," said Tedrow.
