In an article published by Orlando Business Journal, Shareholder Tara Tedrow discussed considerations that Central Florida retailers should take into account when reopening under Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' new executive order, which went into effect on May 4. She commented that following both state and local guidelines when reopening is not only good for safety, but also has the added benefit of potentially reducing liability.
“The balancing act between minimizing tort liability and minimizing financial liability places businesses in an exceptionally difficult position. The old mantra of 'better safe than sorry' is certainly true amidst the uncertainties we are all facing. If you’re able to open your doors to customers, implementing state and federal safety guidelines is prudent,” said Tedrow.
