Mike Ryan, Long-Time Real Estate Shareholder and Friend, Passes Away
It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our distinguished colleague and partner, friend and mentor Michael Ryan, who passed away April 4, 2023. An exceptionally gifted real estate attorney who practiced with Lowndes for more than four decades, Mike worked tirelessly for his clients to help build Central Florida into today’s thriving community.
Known for his professionalism, integrity and legal talent, Mike earned consistent recognition from Martindale Hubbell, The Best Lawyers in America®, Chambers USA, and Florida Super Lawyers® as one of Florida’s elite lawyers. With an unceasing work ethic and a steadfast devotion to his clients, Mike became a trusted advisor to the developers, investors and lenders whose significant projects changed the region, including UCF Lake Nona Hospital, UCF Downtown, and Central Florida Research Park which was acquired, financed, developed, managed and marketed by Mike’s client, the Orange County Research and Development Authority. His peers regarded Mike as one of the best real estate lawyers in Central Florida and, as a dear friend and colleague to all at the firm, he mentored countless Lowndes attorneys, providing his legal insight and instilling in the next generation his love for the firm and its culture.
In addition to a remarkable legal career, Mike was an ardent believer in the value of investing in the community. A past chair of the American Red Cross of Florida, Mike devoted his time, talent and resources to helping many other local civic and charitable organizations as well. A passionate, long-time supporter and past chair of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, he helped structure a unique arrangement with the Orange County Public School System, leading to the creation of a Boys & Girls Club at the OCPS Academic Center For Excellence in the downtown Orlando Parramore neighborhood – a much needed and exciting addition to an underserved community.
Mike will be remembered for his great love for his family and friends, his warm heart, his keen sense of humor, and his big Irish smile. Our heartfelt sympathies are with his wife, Theresa, their daughter, Dawn, and all his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
