Lowndes Shareholder Rebecca Wilson is quoted in a WKMG News 6 / ClickOrlando article discussing the Orange County Board of County Commissioners’ approval of three off-campus student housing projects near the University of Central Florida (UCF), adding over 3,600 bedrooms.

“We are doing our part today to provide housing for students as close as we can get them to the university,” said Wilson, representing the developer of The Place at Alafaya, which is the largest project with 2,400 bedrooms and will replace a vacant 1970s apartment complex.

Wilson further explained how the student housing projects will benefit families seeking affordable housing options near UCF.

“I think we need purpose-built student housing in order to pull students out of the neighborhoods and out of the townhomes,” Wilson said. “We want to get the students out of those types of housing and into this so that stock then becomes available.”
